Engro Polymer is Pakistan’s sole manufacturer of polyvinyl chloride, producing almost 300,000 tons in 2021. It is part of the larger group of companies within Engro, a leading conglomerate with businesses in agriculture, energy, telecommunications, and petrochemicals. As a purpose driven organization, Engro Polymer has initiated the Circular Plastics at Engro Program, whose vision is to contribute to achieving zero-plastic waste by catalyzing a circular economy for plastics in Pakistan.

The Program is being operationalized through three streams: the Circular Plastics Pilot Unit will establish low-cost waste collection systems; the Circular Plastics Investment Fund will invest in circular economy for plastics business models; and the Circular Plastics Institute will be an action-oriented think tank that brings together stakeholders from the plastic and related sectors to develop roadmaps for a zero-plastics waste future

Engro is also Pakistan’s first affiliate member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Plastics Action Partnership, with a commitment to playing a key role in driving GPAP’s agenda forward and accelerating its success by nationally convening and curating stakeholder communities, generating new insights and action roadmaps, and catalyzing high potential solutions around plastics waste.
