Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation

The Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation (AHKF) is a Pakistan-based, Section 42 non-profit organization working to improve the lives of low-income urban communities through women’s economic empowerment, community health, digital inclusion, and climate resilience. Rooted in the development philosophy of Dr. Akhter Hameed Khan, AHKF adopts a participatory, community-led approach to addressing complex urban challenges.

AHKF’s work aligns with CoRe Alliance’s vision by promoting sustainable, climate-resilient practices at the community level, particularly in informal urban settlements that are disproportionately affected by environmental degradation and poor waste management. Through its urban climate resilience initiatives, community mapping, and data-driven research under the Urban Impact Lab, AHKF contributes to awareness and local action around resource efficiency, environmental responsibility, and circular economy principles.

By engaging communities, the private sector, and public institutions, AHKF supports behavior change, inclusive innovation, and evidence-based solutions that complement CoRe Alliance’s goals of advancing sustainability, responsible production, and collective action for environmental impact in Pakistan.
