Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri has been heading Pakistan’s premier policy research think tank, Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) since 2007.
He is a member of many governmental and non-governmental high powered forums and bodies, including Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council; Pakistan Climate Change Commission; National Advisory Committee of Planning Commission of Pakistan; Think Tank of Ministry of National Food Security and Research; and convenor of Working Group on food Security under the Strategic Policy Planning Cell.
Dr. Suleri has represented Pakistan at various multilateral forums such as the World Summit on Sustainable Development, Conference of Parties on Climate Change, and the World Trade Organization. He is an acclaimed writer with several research and analytical publications to his credit.
He contributes his analysis on sustainable development in mainstream electronic and print media. He received his PhD in food security from the University of Greenwich, UK. His current research interests include food security, sustainable economic growth, and Sustainable livelihoods.
Hammad is the CEO of WWF-Pakistan. He possess more than 30 years of professional experience in climate change adaptations, water management, resource mobilization and partnership building, market transformation & greening supply chain and sustainable agriculture with focus on improving farmer’s livelihood & food security.
As Global Cotton Leader (Aug 2011 to July 2014) under WWF-International's Market Transformation Initiative (MTI), Hammad has lead advocacy approaches, representing WWF in multilateral fora and other policy dialogues. He was a member of Senior Executive Team (SET) for Asia Pacific Growth Strategy (APGS) and has also represented Asia Pacific in Network Executive Team (NET) of WWF-international since 2015 till July 2018; in addition to member of SWG and WWF GEF Steering Committee.
Hammad is non-official member of Pakistan Climate Change Committee chaired by Prime Minister, Member of IUCN-Pakistan National Committee (PNC) and a LEAD Fellow.
Hussain Ali Talib is the Head of External Affairs for Unilever Pakistan, and has been with the organization since 2013. He leads a team that advises the leadership of the organization on interpreting underlying nuances and subtleties in government, public policy and regulatory decision-making as reliable input for corporate and business decision-making. Hussain and his team support business functions to identify and implement advocacy plans with desired policy outcomes. This includes strategic stakeholder engagement to shape regulatory frameworks and policy, advocating on behalf of the organization’s positions and interests, to drive business growth.
Result-oriented professional having more than 30 years of working experience in different leadership roles with the Packages Group. Currently working as Head of Packaging in Packages Convertors Ltd. This tenure also includes 5 years of working with Stora Enso - foreign JV Partner and 2.5 years on an international assignment as Managing Director in Flexible Packaging Company based in Sri Lanka. Expertise in developing strategies to drive business growth and profitability, new product development, long term contract management in B2B business, establishing and managing distribution networks, and driving excellence through Operations & Supply Chain.
Khurram Shah is the Director Public Policy & Government Affairs for PepsiCo Pakistan and Afghanistan. In this role, he leads the public policy agenda while supporting the business’s mandate on sustainability.
Prior to joining PepsiCo, Khurram has had a diverse work experience having worked with Pakistan’s leading cement company Lucky Cement, British American Tobacco and Orr, Dignam & Co. Advocates. He is a government and corporate affairs expert and a qualified lawyer with over 18 years of experience of working with 4 different industries including Legal, Tobacco, Cement and Food & Beverages in Pakistan as well as international markets.
He holds a LLB (Hons) degree from the University of Essex, and LLM (Human Rights) from the University of London/School of Oriental & African Studies.
Murad Akram is working with CCI Pakistan as Company Secretary and Director Legal. Murad completed his Bachelors of Law from University of the Punjab, before obtaining a Masters of Law from University College London. Murad started working as an associate at Ramday Law Associates where he was later promoted as a Junior Partner. After working as a counsel in the United Kingdom for 3 years he joined British American Tobacco as a Litigation Counsel for Pakistan. Murad has 20 years of experience in the Legal field.
Noor Aftab is the Head of Public Affairs and Government Relations at Tetra Pak. He is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for food systems, climate, circular economy, and nature.
Prior to joining Tetra Pak, Noor worked for almost 11 years with Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited, a subsidiary of BAT Plc in the areas of Regulatory and Fiscal Affairs, Communications, Business Development and ESG. Noor is a seasoned corporate affairs and communications expert with over 12 years of experience working and contributing in different areas and markets. Noor has also taught Psychology and Sociology for several years to Advanced Level students.
Noor holds an MBA (Finance and Banking) and BBA Honors (Finance and Media) from the Lahore School of Economics.
Pervaiz Akhtar is serving as Director Corporate Affairs at Metro Pakistan (Pvt) Limited. Being part of the company’s senior management team, he has contributed towards successfully establishing the METRO Pakistan’s business in Pakistan.
Prior to joining METRO, he served as General Manager, Corporate Affairs for a Dutch Multinational Company (SHV Energy) for over 9 years. Pervaiz has a versatile experience of more than 35 years of working with local and multinational companies in Pakistan. During this period, he served in senior management positions in the field of Finance, Human Resources, Procurement and Corporate Affairs.
Pervaiz did his graduation in 1976 from the University of Punjab with majors in Economics. He later attended an Executive MBA program at SBC Islamabad. He completed his professional training with Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) and passed Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (Inter) examination in 1981. In 1989, Pervaiz was awarded a USAID scholarship and he completed Petroleum Management Program at Arthur D. Little Inc Boston, U.S.A.
Sheikh Waqar Ahmad is Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability at Nestlé in Pakistan & Afghanistan. He is responsible to lead institutional networking and multi-stakeholder engagement for public policy and business advocacy with the government, multilaterals and non-profits by building alliances for winning partnerships. He is also leading sustainability (Creating Shared Value) agenda to deliver UNSDGs by engaging communities and partners in the value chain.
Prior to joining Nestlé, he has worked as Private Sector Specialist with the World Bank and Summer Scholar at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Waqar has also worked as CEO-TheNetwork for Consumer Protection, Executive Director-SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, an apex business organization of SAARC and consulting assignments with International Chamber of Commerce, Euro Chambers and Commonwealth Business Council. Waqar is a Columbia University, New York graduate in MPA-Economic Policy Management (2010), and also held prestigious Chevening Fellowship (2008) in Responsible Business, University of Nottingham, UK.
Sheikh Waqar Ahmad has a proven leadership and years of professional experience in areas of strategic management, crisis communication and public policy advocacy. He is an expert for developing in depth understanding of sustainability (especially with regards to circular economy) using fast growing social and digital media, its challenges and opportunities for the global businesses.
Zia Hyder Naqi has been associated with SPEL Group for 30 years. He serves as Senior Vice President of the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Lahore. He is also the member of Executive Committee of Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Lahore.
Zia completed his Mechanical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology in Lahore. He then went on to complete his MBA in Finance from the Institute of Management Sciences. He is a certified Project Management Professional, IT Expert, and has participated in a number of training programs in Japan, Germany and Canada. He has completed the Owner/ President Management Program (OPM) from Harvard Business School, USA.
